1. Bedtimey Is for Parents and Guardians

Bedtimey accounts, purchases, and story settings are intended exclusively for adults age 18 or older.

Children do not create Bedtimey accounts, do not provide information directly to us, do not communicate with us through child profiles, and do not make purchases. A parent or legal guardian provides any information used to personalize a child’s Story World.

2. Information We Collect

Information About the Parent or Guardian:

• Parent name or contact name
• Parent email address (used for nightly chapter delivery and account notices)
• Account authentication credentials (secure hashed passwords or login tokens)
• Billing and subscription status (processed securely through Stripe)
• Family timezone and preferred nightly bedtime delivery schedule
• Communications, questions, or feedback you send to Bedtimey support
• Technical diagnostic logs needed to secure and operate the service

Information About a Child (Provided Solely by the Parent):

Parents may provide limited creative details to personalize fictional story worlds, including:

• First name or preferred story character name (e.g., “Emma” or “Leo”)
• Age or age bracket (to tailor vocabulary, sentence complexity, and bedtime calm)
• Favorite interests (e.g., dinosaurs, space exploration, painting, sea life)
• Favorite animals or optional pet companion names
• Preferred story themes, gentle growth milestones, and emotional comfort tone
• Optional holiday and seasonal preferences (opt-in only)
• Optional birthday month and day (for an optional annual birthday chapter)

3. Birthday Information

If a parent optionally chooses to enable Birthday Story Specials, Bedtimey collects only the child’s birth month and day.

We do not request, store, or need the child’s birth year. Birthday information is used exclusively to determine when a special, celebratory birthday chapter is woven into the child’s continuing bedtime adventure. Parents can disable or remove birthday preferences anytime in their Family Dashboard.

4. How We Use Information

We use parent and child profile information exclusively to:

• Create, authenticate, and administer the parent’s Bedtimey account
• Craft a personalized, continuing bedtime Story World for each registered child
• Generate serialized bedtime story chapters delivered each evening
• Maintain story continuity (remembering fictional companions, locations, kept promises, and discovered mysteries)
• Adjust future story pacing and themes when parents update profile preferences
• Schedule and deliver nightly read-aloud chapters to the parent’s inbox ahead of bedtime
• Process subscriptions, renewals, and gift redemptions via Stripe
• Provide direct customer support, respond to parent feedback, and troubleshoot deliveries
• Protect the security, stability, and integrity of the Bedtimey platform

5. Story Memory and Continuing Adventures

Bedtimey is built upon serialized storytelling (“Not a new story every night. The next chapter.”). To deliver this experience, our system maintains a structured, bounded Story Bible that tracks fictional story events, recurring companions, locations, objects, and promises.

There is an important distinction between:

• Child Profile Information: Active settings a parent supplies (e.g. current favorite animal or bedtime schedule).
• Story History: Fictional narrative events that have already taken place in generated chapters.

When a parent updates an interest in the Family Dashboard, future chapters will incorporate the new preference. Previously generated and delivered chapters are historical fictional prose and are not retroactively rewritten.

6. Artificial Intelligence & Privacy

Bedtimey uses advanced generative artificial intelligence APIs to generate personalized bedtime chapters based on our narrative engine blueprints.

Commercial AI Providers: We use enterprise API services provided by leading AI technology companies, primarily Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini).

• Bounded Context: We transmit only the narrative elements reasonably necessary to craft tonight’s chapter (e.g. child's first name, age bracket, current adventure lore, and active companions).
• No Public Foundation Model Training: Under commercial enterprise API terms with our providers, data and prompt payloads submitted through their developer APIs are not used to train public foundation models.
• No Sensitive Identifiers: We never transmit home addresses, schools, photos, full birth dates, or payment details to AI providers.

7. Payment Processing

All payment transactions, subscription billing, and renewals are handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc.

Bedtimey does not collect, receive, or store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full bank account details on our servers. When you subscribe or purchase a gift, payment credentials go directly to Stripe, which is certified under PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance. Stripe processes transactions, prevents fraud, manages billing cycles, and handles invoicing under its own Privacy Policy.

8. Email Delivery Infrastructure

Bedtimey is an email-first bedtime service. We use reputable transactional email infrastructure providers (including Resend and encrypted SMTP gateways) to deliver bedtime chapters and essential account receipts to the parent’s inbox.

These service providers process the parent’s email address, chapter HTML content, delivery timestamps, and delivery success/bounce statuses solely to fulfill email delivery on our behalf. Transactional story deliveries and billing notices are essential service communications. Any occasional parent announcements or feedback surveys include standard one-click unsubscribe links.

9. Service Providers & Vendors

We partner with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating Bedtimey, under strict confidentiality and security obligations:

• Cloud Hosting & Infrastructure: DigitalOcean (secure, access-controlled Linux cloud servers located in the United States).
• AI Story Generation: Anthropic (Claude API) and Google (Gemini API) via secure commercial endpoints.
• Payment & Billing: Stripe, Inc.
• Transactional Email: Resend & secure delivery relays.
• Adult Website Analytics: Meta Pixel and Google Analytics (strictly on public-facing marketing pages for adult visitors).

Our vendors are granted access to information only as reasonably necessary to execute their assigned services for Bedtimey and are contractually prohibited from using family data for their own independent marketing.

10. Cookies and Analytics

Bedtimey uses cookies and similar session storage technologies for:

• Essential Security & Login: Authenticating parents, securing sessions, verifying cross-site request forgery tokens, and maintaining active logins.
• Preferences: Remembering your UI display choices and timezone settings.
• Performance & Analytics: Measuring aggregated, anonymous site traffic to understand which landing pages and features are most helpful.

You can control or disable cookies through your web browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging into your Family Dashboard.

11. Advertising & Marketing to Adults

Bedtimey advertises its service to adults, such as parents and grandparents. To measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, public marketing pages on our website may utilize standard advertising technologies such as the Meta Pixel or Google Analytics.

12. Privacy of Story Chapters & Dashboards

Customer stories are private by default.

Bedtimey does not publish or make a family’s personalized stories searchable on the public internet. Reading a child’s continuing story requires logging into an authenticated parent account or accessing a cryptographically signed, secure access link. Sample chapters displayed on our public homepage are separate, fictional marketing demonstrations crafted internally.

13. Data Retention

We retain family information for as long as your account remains open or as needed to maintain your child’s continuous bedtime story continuity across seasons and adventures.

If you cancel your subscription or your trial finishes, your child’s Story World and reading progress remain saved in a paused state so you can resume the adventure whenever your family is ready without losing characters or memories. Parents may request complete permanent deletion of their account and all associated child profiles at any time.

Certain payment transaction records, audit logs, and fraud prevention tokens may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable tax, financial, and legal compliance obligations.

14. Parent Controls & Profile Management

Parents have complete autonomy over their family’s bedtime routine. Through the Family Dashboard, parents can at any time:

• Update child preferences, favorite animals, companions, or current interests
• Modify bedtime delivery times to match household schedules or daylight saving changes
• Enable or disable seasonal holiday specials (e.g. Christmas, Hanukkah, Halloween)
• Enable, update, or remove optional birthday story moments
• Pause and resume nightly chapter generation for vacations or family trips
• Manage individual children on family multi-child plans
• Update payment methods, switch plans, or cancel active subscriptions
• Request account closure and data deletion

15. Deleting a Child Profile or Account

Parents can permanently delete a child profile or their entire Bedtimey account directly from their dashboard settings or by submitting a request through our contact page:

To protect family security, we verify that deletion requests originate from the email address associated with the account. Upon verified request, all child profile metadata, story bibles, chapter histories, and character records are permanently purged from active production databases.

16. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Bedtimey is designed specifically as a parent-facing and parent-directed service. We comply fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).

• We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 years of age.
• Children do not create logins, browse interactive interfaces, or interact with AI prompts.
• All personalization details are provided solely by an adult parent or legal guardian for bedtime read-aloud purposes.
• If you believe that a child has independently submitted personal information to Bedtimey, please notify us through our contact page and we will immediately investigate and erase such data.

17. Data Security

We implement robust administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to safeguard family data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or misuse. These protections include HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, secure database hashing for credentials, access-controlled cloud infrastructure, and PCI-compliant third-party payment processing.

However, no internet transmission or electronic storage method can guarantee 100% absolute invulnerability. We encourage parents to use strong, unique passwords for their accounts.

18. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have specific statutory rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”):

• Right to Know & Access: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you and your family.
• Right to Deletion: You may request the permanent deletion of personal information collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
• Right to Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you or degrade your service for exercising your privacy rights.
• No Sale or Sharing of Minors’ Data: Bedtimey does not sell personal information, and we strictly do not sell or share personal information belonging to consumers under 16 years of age.

• Request the full deletion of your child profile, story worlds, or parent account
